She was born in Oviedo and studied at the Faculdad de Arquitectura de
Madrid as well as graduating from the Milan Polytechnic in 1989, with a
thesis supervised by Achille Castiglioni. Magistretti and Castiglioni, two key figures in Milanese design,
influenced her outlook and led her to cultivate her talents and
abilities. In 1998 she began working with Moroso: her upholstered furniture,
elegant and comfortable, captured not only the attention of insiders but
also the general public. She devised a new conception of seating, with interchangeable components for a truly modifiable living room. Her sofas Step and Lowland were selected for the International Design Yearbook 1999/2000.
the sofa and armchair collection Redondo is a création from 2010 of Patricia Urquiola for Moroso. Everything bends it and flannelette, the cover pad completely déhoussable is a particular conception(design) of Patricia Urquiola.
Patricia Urquiola designed an asian-influenced couch with a very light weight metallic structure, rods that intersect and a feather stuffing for seat and backrest cushions. This gives the sofa a light and mellow comfort. 2006 creation.
In 2007, Urquiola designs a long chair that seems to come from a fairy tale, the one from “la petite Poucette” where giant, colored welcoming flowers become a bed.
